Description

The author describes a topic by listing charateristics, features, attributes, and examples.

The main purpose is to inform the reader about a specific topic.

Organization:

- By charateristics, features, and attributes

Chronological/Sequence

When the authoor uses the order of events or chronology to inform the reader about the events or content.

When the author explains  how two or more elements are alike and how they are differnt.

It's a text that give facts and info 

For ex: 

Compare and Contrast 

Problem and Solution

Cause and Effect

Chronological order/Sequence

Informational text

Informational text are factual and real. They include facts. They include the timeline, the people there, the history, the structures, and the location. 

These are subheading that would help get the structure and topic for writing. If your asked a question that is like this:

"How many students are in Mcauliffe Elementary School??"

In a info text, then go to the subheading that matches the question the most.

Cause and Effect - Mini Notes

Cause

Why???

The cause is the reason something happened.

Effect

How???

The result of what happened.

For ex: 

The ice cream melted because the sun was hot.

C: The sun was hot.

E: The ice cream.

C: The sun shines when the rain stops.

E: The rainbow appears.

One thing can have many effects. Just as one effect have many causes.

Even though the cause always happens, first, it may not be written first.  Relationship between 2 or more actions or events. There can multiple effects. An action can both a cause and effect. 

After it rained, the water on the ground evaporated. Later, causing it to rain.

C: After it rained,

C: Later, causing it to rain.
